Over the last several months, we have experienced drastic budget restrictions due to the effects of COVID-19. We regret to inform you that the Interdisciplinary Clinical and Academic Program Quality Improvement Internship has been eliminated, effective July 14, 2020.
Across the span of five years, a small group of 5 grew into a diverse program of 155 interns. Through the years, we have advocated for patients, listening to their hardships and enacting change to perfect the patient experience. Together, we have achieved the unthinkable. During this time, we helped nearly 50K patients, visitors, and staff with the Wayfinding Guide program, completed just over 5K daily Patient Experience Rounds, signed up nearly 10K patients for our patient portal, and completed nearly 3K proxy accounts. In addition, we demonstrated robust improvements including Advance Directive education and completion, Readmission reduction, Patient Experience improvement, and staff recognition! Countless recognitions were awarded to our program, leaders, and interns and we published 7 articles in peer-reviewed journals! We have cared for and touched countless lives and it is all due to the efforts of everyone who made the ICAP QI internship possible.
We thank everyone for their contributions toward achieving the perfect patient experience.
