Pet Therapy

NICAP’s Pet Therapy Program was created so that a furry friend could serve Neuromedicine patients and provide comfort and healing for them during their stay at UF Health. We believe the healing process comes in many forms. UF Health’s pet therapy volunteer service is already present in various areas of the hospital; NICAP’s big aim of transforming the culture at UF Health can be enhanced through the Pet Therapy Program reaching more patients in Neuromedicine. NICAP has already heard many heartwarming stories of patients being greeted by therapy dogs in UF Health Rehab and UF Health Pediatrics that have positively affected patient lives. One volunteer shared with us, “I have walked into rooms with Beau and had people burst into tears, telling me how much the visit meant to them.” We hope to continue bringing smiles to the faces of patients through our therapy dogs.
